Fun of a Gun July 28, 2010 Michael S. Forst This nerf N-Strike Recon is a realitively normal dart gun. It comes with multiple accesories that are slightly helpful at best. The only really useful accesory is the sight. The long barrel slows the bullet down, cuts down on range, and makes it less accurate. The gun is reloaded using the clip system and only takes streamlined bullets.
In conclution, the N-Strike Recon is the perfect accesory gun. Otherwise, buy three Mavericks for the same price.
its a pretty good gun July 9, 2010 its a pretty good gun but does jam a lot. not to be one of those people who bad mouth the whole gun. but it is cool.
pros:
has an awesome sight
good at accuracy
able the switch parts
cons: jams a lot
Worst Nerf gun we have ever come across July 1, 2010 M. Wang (CT United States) My son has a large arsenal of Nerf guns, numbering well into the two-digits. This one has to be the worst non-electric Nerf ever.
With so many detachable parts, this N-Strike has the looks. My son specifically requested it. After he opened the package, he spent the next hour trying out the various configurations with a big grin on his face. Once he started firing the darts, however, we immediately realize why there is an un-jamming hatch built into the design. Half of the darts get chewed up. The other half barely drip out the barrel. Now this gun is for posing only.
For those interested in a real shooting Nerf war, stay with the Rapid Fire series.
Great gun once you know how to avoid frequent jams! June 28, 2010 K. Baker (Woodstock, GA USA) My son and I, (and my teenage daughter) have been using this gun along with an arsenal of other nerf shooters and chasing each other around the house for years now. And while the recon was THE gun that everyone wanted to use, the frequent jams made eventually made it the least popular choice as you could expect to be hit with a lot of bullets while you tried free up the jam. As more bullets got bent and chewed up, the gun tended to jam more often until you couldn't get through a single clip without having to stop and check it.
But, I watched a Youtube video recently that explained that the jams happen toward the front of the cylinder so that if you load the clip with the bullets flush against the back of the clip, (you can tap the back of the clip on a table a few times to make sure) it almost completely eliminates the jams. Even with old, bent bullets.
Since I have learned this trick I have been using the recon exclusively because of the power and six shot clip. Nerf guns rock and we have a fantastic time hiding behind furniture and using doors for cover. Families that shoot each other with nerf guns probably get out a lot of frustrations with each other. Consider it therapy.
A 13 year olds perspective June 23, 2010 Christine Jensen (Mn usa) I bought this gun yesterday, and I fell that in the target practice sessions that I have been doing have taught me a few things about the gun. If you are not patient with the constant clogs that happen you should not get this gun. When I got the gun I noticed that the clogs were caused by the same bullet. The clips system allows for quick and easy reloading that the dart tag guns and guns like the Firefly can't offer. Before I got this gun I tested a lot of other guns. I did not want a gun that can't use the clip system because the guns that don't use the clip system have a tendency to pop out a lot. The bullets or not very durable though. The bullets broke when they clogged so I tape the broken part and they work better than new. The gun can use a flip clip and that could hold up to 12 bullets and the stock holds seven more (one clip and 1 bullet). The handle of the actual gun also holds a bullet so all together the gun holds 20 bullets. I have herd that you can modify the gun so it can go further than 35 feet, but I got my gun to do that any ways, so I hope that it makes my gun fire up to 50 or 60 feet.
