Useful educational tool for kids June 3, 2010 K Wong I bought this Doodle when I saw it in my son's school. He is 4 now and starts to learn writing letters and words. It has been very useful and saved us a lot of papers and the mess. He loves writing and drawing on the doole.
The panel is big and has enough room for writing and drawing. It seems sturdy and looks pretty. Highly recommend it.
Great toy May 13, 2010 George Corrado My two year old loves this toy; he's always drawing on it, etc. The only thing I would say is that you have to make a few passes with the eraser.
A great toy! March 14, 2010 Lil (Philadelphia, PA United States) Not much to say, if you know how to use doodle pads, you know how it works. It uses a magnetic mechanism to mark the screen with the magnetic tools (pencil and attachments). It's educational value is quadruplet if your child knows how it works. You'd need to explain magnets and how they work first, of course.
Enough of the boring explanations, the toy does what it was made to do. But this is high quality construction, not anywhere close to the cheap ones. It has handles on each side which makes it easy to carry. It's screen is as big as an average sized laptop screen. The pencil is held by a string, which makes it impossible to get lost.
My son who is autistic has stood on this toy and attempted to break it many times, he hasn't succeeded yet. It is almost 5 months old.
Great toy and IT LASTS! Nothing else to be said.
Mess-free way to express creativity! January 7, 2010 Kathleen E. Bowen (Falls Church, VA) Santa brought this to my 2 year-old (3 in Jan) granddaughter. She took to it so quickly and learned how to use it immediately - the erase bar slide mechanism is very easy to use. She loves to draw freestyle and then add flowers and starts, etc. with the little shaped magnet 'stamps.' She plays with this a good bit daily and her mom took it on a car truip (2 hours each direction) and she used it the entire time in the car, trying to draw some of the cars and tress she saw on the trip. The only concern (and it's a concern for any toy with pieces) is that the 4 magnet stamps may be easily misplaced and, like the attached drawing stylus, attaching them to the frame using short tethers (singly or as a group) would be a better way to prevent loss.
Magnificent Doodling Fun! October 20, 2009 Andrew Ellington (I'm kind of everywhere) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My wife and I totally forgot about these things until a recent trip to `Babies R Us' reminded us of how much fun and really how educational these things are. So, with a few expertly dropped hints, our daughter wound up with one (thank you Granny) and she absolutely LOVES it. We can't tear her away from it. She draws on this thing all day long, and while her art work is subjective it is wonderful to see her so excited about the images she's created.
She easily uses the board and the shapes and the pen and she can even erase it herself. I will agree with the other poster who said that at times you have to erase it two or three times for the image to completely go away, but it is a small complaint.
What I find so wonderful about this `toy' is that it does help in the learning process. My daughter even calls this `school work' and we have used it to teach her some basic reading.
The shapes are small enough to get stuck in a little one's throat, so please watch your kids. So far my little one hasn't attempted to swallow anything, but the danger is there so we watch her closely. I feel as though I'm repeating the review above me (very nicely written Mercedes) but she's right; that pen chord is really durable (my little girl drags this thing everywhere by that pen) and the handles are easy to use, although it is a bit wide for my daughter (she's dainty).
So yes, I totally recommend this one. I have seen a few complaints about price here. I didn't personally buy this, so I'm not sure how much it costs in the store, but do some shopping and get yourself a deal. This is worth getting though; you're kids will LOVE it.
