| Customer Reviews: My son LOVES IT!!! February 5, 2010
My 7 year old son who is a HUGE Ben 10 fan LOVES these sets!!! Yes, you do have to buy more than 1 set to make different aliens, but my son will play with these for hours and loves making all kinds of different aliens. Very durable, and easy for him to put together.
Lego really missed the ball with this one! February 2, 2010 AlexJouJou (California) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My son is the hugest Ben 10 fan ever. He has the creation chamber figures and plays with them on a daily basis. He just puts them together himself (the chamber was a waste of money but the figures can be done by hand and are a complete blast!)
The reason I say the above is because these are sort of similar but with less functionality. These are action figures made by Lego that have a few pieces to put together. Like a Duplo set. So from that point of view they are quite a disappointment given the cost. Although they are not the most expensive action figure out there.
The reason I gave it two stars is that you put several of the sets together to make a new creature but that means you have to buy multiple sets. Although my son seems to love this I'm not too keen on the overall cost. I think it would be cheaper to just buy him more of the creation chamber figures although they are so small. Given that these Lego sets are more a 2 second project than a 2 hour project and they are ONLY the characters I am actually very bummed! Can you imagine how cool it would be to have a playset with Kevin's car and Grandpa's RV and little Lego alien creatures that you could form all sorts of different ways? Think of the possibilities! How cute would little Gwen be?
Even my son has expressed he is sad that they had to do these toys and not really get creative. From a money point of view this is very short sighted of Lego as well--do you know how much money I spent on ALL the Harry Potter Lego's? Hundreds of dollars and we had fun for years with them! One of the best investments in Lego product's I've made--even helped spur my son to reading Harry Potter and not just watching the movies.
I bought two and I'm not buying anymore. Just not worth it!
Edited after several weeks to add that my son no longer plays with these two sets that I bought him. He's gone back to his Alien Creation Chamber small figures. He plays for hours with those (and actually they are sort of similar to Lego's anyway!). Live and Learn.
Bluntly this toy is extremely limited. If you lose a piece that's it..no kid wants a Jet Ray without his wings or whatever. Although I predict that these won't do too badly as there really aren't that many Ben 10 toys the potential was for so much more. So much more.
Not really a Lego set January 2, 2010 Colin A. White 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
My son is a big Ben 10 fan, and I happened to see this one at a local toy store just before Xmas and got one. My son loves it, but just be clear that this is not really a Lego building set in the classic sense - it only has 20 body part pieces that snap together, my son (5 years old) put it together in about 20 seconds. It does not look like it will connect well with traditional Lego bricks, it is really more of a poseable action figure. The exception may be that you can probably interchange body parts with other sets in the Ben 10 line, although we have not tested this. SO, if you are a big Ben 10 fan you will probably like this, but don't purchase thinking you are going to get a 'real' Lego building set.
